If staff have been exposed to the corona virus at work, the employer must report it to the Swedish Work Environment Authority - and during March, the highest number of corona incidents from preschools since the start of the pandemic was reported.

Throughout 2020, 85 corona-related incidents were reported from preschools, while so far this year, 2,221 such reports have already been made.

But getting reports made last year may be due to the information on the authority's website being misunderstood, according to Pernilla Pehrson Niia, regional manager at the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

The reason is that the information could be interpreted as meaning that the requirement to report corona incidents only applied to activities where the risk of infection is greatest, even though it actually concerns all activities.

- In the beginning, we focused the information on where the risks of infection were greatest, ie mainly care and nursing.

Now we have a general spread of infection and therefore more businesses are affected, she says.
