As one of the series of celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Xiamen University, the theme of this forum is "Promoting the spirit of Jiageng and creating the brilliance of Xiamen University".
In the keynote speech session, Zhang Chunwang, a researcher at the Institute of Overseas Chinese and Overseas Chinese, made a keynote speech on "Inheriting a Century of Feelings and Composing a New Overseas Chinese Chapter".
He hopes that Xiamen University, a century-old overseas Chinese school, will start again, further promote the spirit of Jiageng in the new era, and strive to write a new chapter in the work of overseas Chinese.
Specially-appointed professor of Xiamen University Zhuang Guotu gave a keynote speech on "Fujian Overseas Chinese and Xiamen University", expounding the historical origin and deep friendship between Fujian overseas Chinese and Xiamen University from different angles, and affirmed the role and contribution of overseas Chinese in Xiamen University's century-old history.
Wu Shaoyun, alumni of Xiamen University, also made a keynote speech on "Meeting in Xiamen University for a Hundred Years" based on his own experience, lovingly recalling every bit of learning in his alma mater, thanking his alma mater for education, and actively giving back to the society.
Before the conference, the renovation of the "Home of Overseas Chinese" in Xiamen University was completed and unveiled.
The "Overseas Chinese Home" was built in May 1982 by patriotic overseas Chinese such as Dr. Qingqing Chen and Dr. Zhongjian Zhuang who lived in the Philippines with generous donations.
