Being a model is no longer what it used to be - due to Corona, currently only online appearances are possible.

Last February, as the model Anna Hiltrop, 26 years old, told me, she had such an appearance on behalf of a hair cosmetics company.

Her job was to make a video.

She did that at home.

“I was both a model and a director.

My mother was the camerawoman.

I gave her a camera and off we went. "

Anna Hiltrop - we had a video call - laughed: “In my industry you only really know big sets.

And suddenly you do almost everything yourself. ”After all, she received a lot of praise for the video.

Once a professional, always a professional!

Anna Hiltrop, born in Oberhausen and at home near Düsseldorf (she doesn't say it more precisely for fear of stalkers), doesn't seem to be who she once was either.

At the end of last year, she wrote on Instagram that 2020 had pushed her to her limits.

Instead of being on the road for 300 days, she was at home for 300 days.

But: “I've never been so at peace with myself after a year.” I asked her what the statement was meant to be.

“In my job you are a victim of adjustment,” she replied.

“You jump from job to job.

The lockdown gave me time to deal with myself, which I never did before.

Once I was looking at photos, maybe five years old, and I was almost in shock: You're not at all, I thought.

In my eyes I saw the complete overstrain.

As a model you are constantly pushed into roles.

And suddenly I asked myself: What kind of role image are we conveying? "

Because she suffered from back pain, she went to see an osteopath who was also a psychologist.

"He made me aware of my physical weaknesses." Me: "I beg your pardon ?!

You are a model, in business for 14 years, one of the most famous models in Germany. "

You, cool: “The examinations revealed that I have a few food intolerances.

And my pelvis is crooked.

That is probably also due to the high heels that we usually wear.

I used to have panic attacks a lot.

The feeling of always carrying ten kilos of cement on my shoulders.

The reason was the constant stress. "

If she hadn't gotten the involuntary break in 2020, “then I don't know how long I would have wanted the job.

Today I am much more self-confident, I say no more often and no longer adapt as much.

I know what I want and who I am. "

We talked for about an hour.

Anna Hiltrop appeared to be in a good mood, deeply relaxed and in a good mood to chat.

I found out about her shoe collection.

She has never counted, but there should be around 650 pairs, she said.

Including rare examples such as vegan boots made of so-called lemon leather.

They smelled of lemon, just as their bag made of so-called apple leather would smell of apples.

Sometimes Anna Hiltrop seemed surprised herself by the sentences that escaped her.

For example, when it came to her new dog (those who subscribe to Anna Hiltrop on Instagram can see videos with him. Sweet!).

His name is Ben and he is a mix of Border Collie and Epagneul Breton.

"Dogs always understand you," she said.

“They don't care how you look either.

I think I'm someone who likes animals more than people. ”The sentence had apparently slipped out of her.

She looked startled for a moment, as if she shouldn't say something like that.

Then she added: “It is the same for many in my industry.

Animals are honest.

I got to know a lot of wrong people. "

Despite the lockdown break, Anna Hiltrop cannot complain about a lack of employment.

In January she performed at the Berlin “Fashion Week”.

Without an audience, but at least there was a real catwalk.

“Fortunately, you don't forget the catwalk.

It's like riding a bike. ”Recently, Neonyt, the Frankfurt fair for sustainable fashion, made Anna Hiltrop its“ face ”, as the industry likes to call it.

When I asked how it felt to be reduced to the face on a regular basis, she replied: “Thanks for the question!

In fact, I also have a brain.

And I can even speak! ”She laughed.

Then we came to talk about her Abitur, which she passed as the best of the year in Oberhausen (grade: 1.4), whereby she achieved the maximum number of points of 15 in one of her advanced courses.

The teacher in the subject in question revealed to her at the time that in view of her appearance - and above all because of her blonde hair - he initially would not have thought such an achievement was possible.

It still happens to her today, she said.

Again and again abuse because of her hair color.

“Could you imagine,” I asked, “dying your hair black for fun?” You: “Oh no!

I fully identify with my hair color. ”It occurred to me too late that I shouldn't have asked the question.

First of all, those who judge others on the basis of their hair color have to change.

And secondly, I must have forgotten for a moment how quick-witted Anna Hiltrop is.

She looked at me with a grin: "You probably identify with yours too, right?"
