Berlin (dpa / bb) - On the occasion of World Health Day, the clinic rescue alliance protested on Wednesday at Berlin's Alexanderplatz against the threat of clinic closings.

For this purpose, 20 signs have been held up as symbols for tombstones, which stand for the hospitals that were closed last year to the knowledge of the alliance.

Currently, more than 30 houses across Germany are threatened with closure - including the Wenckebach Clinic in the constituency of the ruling Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) in Berlin-Tempelhof.

The alliance is currently collecting signatures for a petition to Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU).

This not only calls for the closure of hospitals in Germany to be stopped.

Among other things, the increase and better payment of hospital staff is also required.

“Ironically, the hospitals that treated corona patients under maximum load are now acutely threatened with bankruptcy.

That is why we need a change in hospital policy immediately, we need solidarity-based financing, ”it also says.
