Six months after being infected with Covid-19, one in three people suffers from psychological or neurological disorders.
And the more severe a patient has developed, the more likely they are to experience these mental disorders, a study by
The Lancet Psychiatry
reveals
.
Among patients hospitalized in intensive care, 46% of them are diagnosed positive for psychological or mental disorders.
This is almost 30 points higher than among the less severe forms.
The manifestations of these disorders can range from anxiety to dementia in 2% of cases, and up to cerebral hemorrhage in 2.7% of patients.

Regarding the causes of these disorders, the study does not have enough elements to determine them.
But these symptoms are more common than in other respiratory illnesses, such as the flu for example.
Moreover, according to mathematical logic, the importance of the pandemic across the planet is increasing the number of people affected by these mental disorders.
Another concern: the disorders listed in the study tend to become chronic over time.
The impact of Covid-19 could therefore persist for many years in these patients.
