Berlin (AP) - 1. FC Union Berlin is planning the team for the coming season in the Bundesliga.

According to the “Bild” (Wednesday), the Köpenicker made contact with the Polish defender Tymoteusz Puchacz.

The 22-year-old left-back from the first division club Lech Poznan is said to have had talks with Union sports director Oliver Ruhnert in the An der Alten Försterei stadium.

The U21 national player could inherit Christopher Lenz, who moves to league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt after this season.

Puchacz played 21 of a total of 23 league games this season and has a contract until 2022.

In addition to the Polish defender, Union is said to have another defender on the hook, Paul Jaeckel of the same age from the second division Greuther Fürth, who could take the position of Niko Schlotterbeck.

The 21-year-old is returning to SC Freiburg in the summer after his one-year loan ended.
