Heidenheim (dpa) - Holstein Kiel has received another setback in the promotion of the 2nd Bundesliga.

Three days after their 2-1 defeat at leaders VfL Bochum, coach Ole Werner's team also lost the catch-up game of the 25th matchday at 1. FC Heidenheim on Tuesday with 0-1 (0-1).

Goal scorer Tim Kleindienst decided the game in the 17th minute in favor of the Swabians, who had previously lost twice in a row.

In the table, the Kielers are now four points behind third-placed SpVgg Greuther Fürth, but have one game less.

Heidenheim's deficit on relegation rank three is eight points.

The hosts were the better team in the first half and took the lead after a counterattack by Kleindienst's eighth goal of the season.

Three minutes later, the striker almost increased it, Kiel's Johannes van den Bergh cleared the line.

Fin Bartels missed the best chance of the guests in the first round with a flick (19th).

In a balanced second half, Heidenheim's Robert Leipertz (68th) first hit the side netting and then aimed too high (73rd).

On the other side, Joshua Mees missed the equalizer with a header (78th).
