Hanover (dpa / lni) - The utilization of hospitals in Lower Saxony is increasing again under the pressure of the Corona crisis.
Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) said on Tuesday that almost 1,100 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated as inpatients, and about every fourth of them are in intensive care units.
"These numbers are increasing slightly, but we are not seeing any exponential growth."
So far, there are no indications that the hospitals have to postpone other treatments on a large scale, said Behrens.
Nevertheless, the virus is still a "dangerous opponent".
According to the minister, the capacity utilization of the intensive care beds is around 60 percent, the ventilation places 34 percent and the places with external lung machines (ECMO) 32 percent.
"Full utilization is currently not recognizable in Lower Saxony."

The number of corona patients in hospitals reached its highest level in January.
At that time, more than 1,400 people with Covid-19 were in inpatient treatment on a few days.
