Hanover (dpa / lni) - The wait for the corona vaccinations in Lower Saxony should come to an end in summer.

Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) said on Tuesday that the vaccination progress is expected to be so advanced by the end of May that the specified sequence is no longer needed.

"Then we can basically say goodbye to the topic of prioritization at the beginning of summer."

The goal is to vaccinate everyone who wants to be vaccinated.

In addition to family doctors, company doctors should also be included in the vaccination campaign from May, said Behrens.

"Then hopefully there will be so much vaccine."

Based on the announced delivery quantities, more than 20 percent of people in Lower Saxony could have received the first vaccination and around 7 percent the second vaccination by the end of April.

At the end of May, it should be 26 or just under 13 percent.

That would roughly double the current vaccination progress in Lower Saxony.
