Munich (dpa) - Bavaria sees a need for clarification after the advance of the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Armin Laschet for a "bridge lockdown".

“Bavaria continues to advocate consistent action in the fight against the pandemic.

It is therefore gratifying when other federal states also follow this course.

However, there should first be more clarity about what exactly North Rhine-Westphalia is planning, ”said Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) on Tuesday in Munich.

Holetschek is currently also chairman of the conference of health ministers.

The CDU chairman had proposed on Easter Monday that a "bridge lockdown" be adopted in the fight against the third wave of corona.

This should bridge the time until many people are vaccinated.

The situation requires “that we step up again in many areas,” said the CDU chairman.

In his assessment of the situation, he agreed with many country leaders, Chancellor Angela Merkel and Health Minister Jens Spahn (both CDU).

On Tuesday, Laschet specified that such a “bridge lockdown” should take “two to three weeks”.

Holetschek said: "If the number of infections increases, more stringent measures must be discussed."

But it is very important that new steps are accepted by the citizens.

“That is why we need concrete concepts that are supported by scientific data.

This also applies to the advance from North Rhine-Westphalia, ”said Holetschek.
