Burg (dpa / lno) - A 68-year-old man was seriously injured in a fire in an apartment in Burg (Dithmarschen district).
The man was flown to a special clinic in a rescue helicopter on Monday evening, the police said on Tuesday.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of the apartment building for an initially unexplained cause.
When the fire department arrived, the apartment was already on fire.
A roommate had discovered the fire, called the rescue workers and made his own unsuccessful attempts to extinguish the fire.
According to the police, the apartment above the scene of the fire also became uninhabitable due to the fire.
