Berlin (dpa / bb) - After Astrazeneca's corona vaccine ban for people under 60 years of age, the substance is no slow-moving in Berlin.

On the contrary: due to great demand, people between 60 and 70 now have the option of booking a vaccination with the vaccine at the Tempelhof vaccination center for a longer period of time.

The health administration announced on Tuesday that appointments are now available there until April 18 instead of April 11.

At the Tegel vaccination center, where Astrazeneca had also been vaccinated to 60 to 70-year-olds since April 2, the vaccinations for this group of people ran out as planned on Tuesday.

A week ago, following a recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko), the federal and state governments decided to generally only use the Astrazeneca vaccine for people aged 60 and over.

The background is cases of blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins in younger people.

As a result, the additional opportunity for 60 to 70 year olds to be vaccinated with Astrazeneca was created in Berlin.
