Tomorrow Tuesday, HV71 will play the first qualifying match against Brynäs in the battle to stay in the SHL.

The association has had a nightmare-like season and now risks playing in the second highest series for the first time since the mid-1980s.

The financial conditions for games in the Allsvenskan compared to the SHL are great.

- There will be tough measures waiting in such a situation, says Agne Bengtsson who is club director in HV71.

Harder to fill the arena

Agne Bengtsson says that playing in the Allsvenskan would mean that the club loses millions in reduced TV contract revenues and more difficult to fill the home arena with an audience.

It would entail demands for savings, but exactly what he can not say at present.

The club wants to continue with the investment in children's and youth sports and the elite investment in the women's team, regardless of which series the men's team plays in.

How it will go now when HV71 is forced into a negative qualifier remains to be seen, but the club director says that the team is ready to take the bull by the horns.

- We are as well prepared as you can be, he says.
