Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - State Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) wants to clarify whether "dangerous events" like on Saturday in Stuttgart in the corona pandemic must be allowed.

«The freedom to demonstrate also requires responsible citizens.

Our basic rights are not limitless and do not justify any irresponsible behavior - especially not endangering the health and life of other people, ”said Strobl on Monday in Stuttgart.

"The pictures from Holy Saturday are hard to take," he added.

Thousands of “lateral thinkers” poured through the streets of the state capital.

"You deliberately disregard the protection against infection - without distance and without decency."

According to Strobl, 14 of the 25 registered meetings took place in the state capital on the Easter weekend.

"Half of the meetings were related to the corona pandemic."

Around the elevator of the "lateral thinkers" movement in Stuttgart there were numerous violations of the assembly requirements and the Corona regulation.

"On Saturday the police again prevented an escalation of violence and acted prudently and proportionately in view of the high degree of emotionalization," said Strobl.

More than 1,000 police officers were on duty on Saturday.

The officers were supported by the federal police and police officers from North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.

Two water cannons were ready.

According to the police, around 250 corona violations have been punished so far.
