  According to reports, Li Zhongzhu, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, said that most of the 13 existing video reunion venues in South Korea are located in the metropolitan area and plans to add 6 to 7 video reunion venues across the country to provide convenience for separated families.

  Li Zhongzhu emphasized that due to the new crown epidemic and other reasons, it is difficult for the separated families of South Korea and North Korea to meet the dough.

In view of this, the government will strengthen infrastructure to ensure that separated families of South Korea and North Korea communicate through contactless methods such as video.

  In addition, the South Korean government will investigate the status of separated families in South Korea and North Korea from April 6 to the end of October. The subjects of the investigation will be more than 48,000 registered separated family members in Korea and abroad and newly registered separated family members.

  According to reports, South Korea conducts a survey on the status of separated families between South Korea and North Korea every six years.

Following 2011 and 2016, the third survey will be conducted in 2021.
