Mannheim (dpa / lni) - The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven have won the top game of the German ice hockey league at Adler Mannheim.

The Seestädter won on Monday evening with the sovereign leaders of the southern season 2: 1 (1: 1, 1: 0, 0: 0) and are second in the northern group shortly before the playoff qualification.

Mannheim had previously secured the place for the knockout round.

Bremerhaven's Carson McMillan (17th minute) and Ross Mauermann (38th) scored for coach Thomas Popiesch's team.

The hosts achieved the 1-0 lead through Matthias Plachta (6th).
