Erfurt (dpa / th) - The CDU parliamentary group has called for more sense of proportion for historic old buildings in the energetic renovation.

There is a recognizable trend to make energy efficiency the top standard when renovating old buildings, said the housing policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Marcus Malsch, on Easter Monday in Erfurt.

In doing so, however, it is often overlooked that the houses, some of which are centuries old and which characterize the village landscape, can hardly be upgraded to modern thermal insulation values at a reasonable cost.

“Our housing construction policy must not lead to the historical building fabric being simply dammed away,” warned Malsch.

With their natural building materials, many houses in the rural town centers are also climate-friendly per se.

They are also difficult to retrofit without losing their character.

Instead of conditions, owners of such properties need more advice, special subsidy programs or expanded depreciation options.
