Burg (dpa / sa) - On Tuesday, the first year of the so-called voluntary military service in homeland security will begin his service in the armed forces.

The basic training location in Burg (Jerichower Land) is one of the eleven locations involved, as the Bundeswehr announced.

Most of the young people are supposed to do a “one-year service for the common good and participate in a support of the homeland security”, it said in the message.

According to the Bundeswehr, one of the special features of the new form of voluntary service is that after the seven-month basic training, the soldiers are deployed close to home in one of the 30 so-called regional security and support companies.

This is to offer a use in homeland security as far as possible in the regional environment of those interested.
