Miami (AP) - The Italian Jannik Sinner missed the first Masters title of his career at the tennis tournament in Miami.

The 19-year-old lost in the final of the ATP tournament in two sets 6: 7 (4: 7), 4: 6 against the Polish outsider Hubert Hurkacz.

It is also the first Masters title for the 24-year-old.

The top stars Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer had canceled the tournament in Miami for various reasons.

After a hard-fought first set, Sinner was 4-0 down in the second round, but then fought back.

Hurkacz nevertheless used his first match ball after 1:43 hours.

The world number 31.

Sinner had prevailed in the semifinals against the favored Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut.

Hurkacz had defeated the number four seeded Russian Andrei Rublev.

The Pole is in 37th place in the world rankings and also surprised in the quarter-finals against Greek co-favorite Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Both finalists had previously won two ATP titles, one each this year.

Youngster Sinner prevailed at the Great Ocean Road Open in Melbourne at the beginning of February.

Hurkacz won the title at Delray Beach, Florida in January.
