04 April 2021 Easter eggs become the weapon against the military coup that laid and arrested the leader Aung San Suu Kyi on 1 February.

The boiled eggs were painted with Suu Kyi's face and slogans for her release.

A protest on the occasion of Easter by people who have been protesting for two months against the military junta, which killed hundreds of demonstrators demanding the return of the civilian government.

The eggs were left hanging on the doors of neighborhood houses or on the gates of public buildings.

Today's so-called "Easter Egg Strike" continues the tradition of themed protests, including a "Silent Strike", during which people across the country left the streets empty, and a "Lower Strike", during which protesters placed flowers in public places to honor those killed by the security forces.

Many more victims

With the four demonstrators killed on Saturday in Bago and Monywa, the

toll

of citizens killed by the armed forces in the repression of the democratic uprisings has risen to at least 557.

The violence did not stop the demonstrations, however.

New protests took place in the morning in Mandalay, with a procession of motorcyclists waving flags.

Terror sown by soldiers

Soldiers and police continue their nocturnal intimidation with forays into neighborhoods, during which they shout insults, shoot randomly, make arrests and vandalize property.

On Saturday, police opened fire killing several protesters in Monywa, central Myanmar, and elsewhere.
