Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Free State of Thuringia received almost 2.3 million euros from state inheritance last year.

In 2020, 717 estates fell to the Treasury, the Ministry of Finance told the German Press Agency.

This is the case when there are no legal heirs or a will, or when someone turns down their entire inheritance.

In around 80 percent of all cases, succession resulted in the estate going to the state.

According to the ministry, the tax authorities in Thuringia inherit significantly more over-indebted estates than valuable ones.
