Bochum / Kiel (dpa / lno) - Sports director Uwe Stöver, at least officially, does not bother about the fact that aspirant Holstein Kiel is facing a mammoth program after the almost four-week Corona forced break in the season's final spurt.

When asked whether he worries that Kiel has to complete a tougher program in the 2nd Bundesliga due to the catch-up games than their promotion competitors from Bochum, Hamburg and Fürth, the 54-year-old replied with "No".

"I'm not worried, we'll take it as it comes," he said.

The Kiel squad was finally able to breathe through this March - albeit involuntarily of course.

"And from a sports medicine point of view, it is quite possible to play every three or four days if you regenerate properly in between," said the ex-professional on Saturday after the 1: 2 (0: 1) defeat at front-runner VfL Bochum.

The surprise team of the 2nd Bundesliga is now going on in quick succession.

Holstein will be playing at 1. FC Heidenheim on Tuesday (6.30 p.m. / Sky).

It will be the second of seven league games in April, which will also be followed by the difficult semi-final in the DFB Cup at Borussia Dortmund on May 1st.

Kiel's head coach Ole Werner had expressed himself similar to his managing director Sport even before the Bochum game.

The 32-year-old emphasized that he will also take it as it comes.

He sees the rhythm with the many English weeks this year as "almost normal": "In any case, we will not hide behind it."
