Dresden (dpa / sn) - Christians in Saxony celebrated the resurrection of Christ in very different ways on Easter Sunday.

In numerous churches, services were held under the applicable Corona hygiene regulations, as a spokesman for the Evangelical Church of Saxony said.

The number of visitors and the duration were reduced, the mask was compulsory and there was no church singing.

"We've been practicing it for a year."

Thanks to live broadcasts, live streams and videos, people celebrated at home - on the television, radio or computer, at the kitchen table, in the study or in the “parlor”.

In the pandemic, Easter had to get along for the second time "without refreshing fellowship and closeness, without singing from hundreds of throats, and renouncing large trumpet choirs," said Pastor Angelika Behnke in the Dresden Frauenkirche.

This time it is rather simple and quiet.

She appealed to "remain sensitive and genuine in the heart, flexible in feeling and trusting" in the pandemic.

Behnke also reminded people that Easter was a “barefoot festival”.

"And barefoot also stands for joie de vivre and community, which must be preserved."
