A few hours from the entry into force of the new restrictions, the French are getting organized and heavy traffic is expected on the roads and in the stations.

After Thursday's confusion, marked by conflicting indications from the executive side, childminders, who look after children at their homes, will finally be able to continue their activity for the next three weeks, despite the restrictions put in place against the coronavirus epidemic.

The Minister in charge of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebarri, promised, Friday on Europe 1, a "tolerance" for "legitimate" travel on the occasion of an Easter weekend under close surveillance.

In terms of health, the situation continues to deteriorate in France with an increase in hospitalizations and resuscitations, but also very many new cases detected in one day.

In addition, the self-tests will be available for sale in pharmacies from April 12.

Information to remember:

  • Childminders finally authorized to look after the children

  • Despite the tolerance, "checks on the sanitary protocol" are planned this weekend, according to Jean-Baptiste Djebbari

  • 96,280 dead, the situation continues to deteriorate in the hospital

  • The self-tests will be sold in pharmacies from April 12

Childminders finally authorized to look after the children

Childminders, who look after children at home, will finally be able to continue their activity for the next three weeks, union sources told AFP, the day after a government mess around this profession.

"The childminders will finally be able to work and the Nursery Assistants Houses (Mam) remain open in a maximum of 10 children," Véronique Delaitre (FO) told AFP, after a meeting with the Secretary of State for 'Childhood Adrien Taquet.

According to Lydia Loisel (Professional union of childminders), for vulnerable employees or those to whom parents decide not to entrust their child, a system of "exceptional allowances" will be put in place as during the first confinement.

96,280 dead, more than 5,200 patients in intensive care

According to figures published by the government website, France counted 96,280 dead from the coronavirus on Friday evening, or 332 more than the day before.

Hospitalizations are up with 28,729 patients, or 145 more since the last score.

Ditto for resuscitations which now have 5,254 serious cases, or 145 more over the same period.

In addition, 46,677 new cases of coronavirus were detected in 24 hours in the territory.

Olivier Véran estimated Thursday that the epidemic peak of contaminations could be reached "within 7 to 10 days", and two weeks later for the peak of patients in intensive care.

In 24 hours, 314 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths recorded in France since the start of the epidemic to 95,976, including 69,932 in hospital.

"Tolerance" on certain trips at Easter, with controls planned

"For the Easter weekend, Monday included, because a certain number of families will want to drop off their children with grandparents, for example, we apply a tolerance so that these legitimate trips can be made" , explained Friday, at the microphone of Europe Morning, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari.

This tolerance is "specific" to families with children, to which the executive wishes to give a little more time to organize themselves in the perspective of teleworking and the return from school to home, specifies the minister.

Other trips exceeding 10 kilometers, and not falling within this case or one of those listed by the trip certificate, are therefore liable to be penalized.

Moreover, throughout the Easter weekend "there will always be checks on the health protocol, such as wearing a mask", warns the minister.

And we must believe that many French people want to take advantage of this flexibility granted by the government, according to a press release from Bison Futé.

The National Road Information Center has indeed classified the day of Saturday in orange, ie difficult traffic, in the direction of departures and "departures from Île-de-France should be numerous in the morning".

Traffic difficulties that we also find on Easter Monday, this time in the direction of returns, "with difficulties expected in Île-de-France as well as in the western areas and in the Rhone valley".

Self-tests available in pharmacies from April 12

After the investigation of Europe 1 on the slowness of the deployment of self-screening tests for Covid-19 in France, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran finally decided to authorize them for sale in pharmacies from April 12.

The tenant of the rue de Ségur announced this Friday in an interview with the online media Brut.

Validated in mid-March by the High Authority of Health (HAS), the self-tests were however not available until then because the ministry was reluctant to have them used by the French.

Three new cases of thrombosis, two deaths in France

Three new cases of atypical thrombosis (clots) associated with AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine, with two additional deaths, occurred in France between March 19 and 25, according to the Medicines Agency (ANSM).

Since the start of the vaccination, there are "twelve cases, including four deaths in total" of these rare thromboses which have occurred in France, the ANSM said on Friday.

For their part, the Netherlands has suspended injections of AstraZeneca serum for those under the age of 60 following several cases of blood clots or thromboses, including at least one fatal case, announced the Dutch health authorities.

As for the United Kingdom, the British regulator of the drug said Friday to have identified 30 cases of blood clots so far in people who have been administered AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom.

He said, however, that the benefits outweighed the "very low" risk reported from the more than 18 million doses injected.

United States passes 100 million vaccinations threshold

More than 100 million people in the United States had received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as of Friday, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the leading agency the country's federal public health authority.

In detail, more than 101.8 million people have received at least one injection of the vaccine, and 58 million people are fully vaccinated, including more than one in two people over 65 years.

People vaccinated against Covid-19 can resume travel by taking precautions, that is to say by wearing a mask and respecting physical distancing, US health authorities announced on Friday.

More than 2.8 million deaths worldwide

The pandemic has killed at least 2,829,089 people around the world since the end of December 2019, according to an AFP report from official sources on Friday.

The United States is the country with the most deaths with 553,979 dead, ahead of Brazil (328,206), Mexico (203,664), India (163,396) and the United Kingdom (126,764).

Among the hardest hit countries, the Czech Republic is the one with the highest number of deaths relative to its population, with 250 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Hungary, Montenegro, Bosnia and Belgium.

These figures are globally underestimated.

They are based on daily reports from national health authorities, without including reassessments based on statistical bases.
