The GERB (center-right, in power) is given at the head of the legislative elections of this Sunday in Bulgaria, in front of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and a new formation born of the demonstrations of last summer against corruption.

This prospect does not surprise Elena Yoncheva, MEP from the Bulgarian Socialist Party.

Bulgaria has eight million inhabitants.
People feel threatened.
If they vote for another party, they could be fired.

Whether it is the GERB that takes the lead or another party, alliances will be necessary, explains sociologist Boriana Dimitrova.

We can expect to have a very fragmented National Assembly with five and up to seven parties in Parliament,
” she said.
The question that will arise is "
what type of coalition?"
For the moment, the GERB sees itself victorious, but it is not at all certain that it will succeed in forming a government.

Boiko Borissov is no novice in the field.
During his last three terms he was forced into many combinations of alliances to form a majority.
