Bulgaria is the country that has so far been the slowest in the EU with vaccination.

This is partly due to a lack of doses: the country chose to forgo Pfizer doses and invest in the cheaper Astra zeneca, which has had problems with deliveries.

But it is also due to great skepticism about the vaccine.

More than half of Bulgarians do not feel ready to take a shot.

So now the country has departed from the order of priority and anyone, regardless of age, can just go and get their vaccine, without pre-booking.

- My mother refuses to take the vaccine, but now we may have set a good example, says 32-year-old Violetta, who has just taken her first syringe.
