Leicester (AP) - The English football leader Manchester City completed a successful dress rehearsal in the Premier League before the Champions League duel against Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Away at third in the table Leicester City, City deservedly won 2-0 (0-0) on Saturday.

The German international Ilkay Gündogan stayed on the bench.

Benjamin Mendy (58th minute) and Gabriel Jesus (74th) scored in the King Power Stadium for an away win for the team of star coach Pep Guardiola, who had significantly more of the game and was more efficient.

The ball landed in goal twice in the first half.

An alleged goal by Fernandinho for the guests and one by Jamie Vardy for the offensively disappointing Foxes did not count due to offside positions.

With the win, Man City took another step on the way to the seventh championship.

The Citizens now need a maximum of eleven points to secure the title.

Leicester failed to capitalize on the surprising bankruptcy of Chelsea FC - 2: 5 (1: 2) at home against West Bromwich Albion - and to distance their direct competitors for a Champions League place to eight points.
