Mannheim (dpa) - With the fifth win in a row, the Adler Mannheim have clearly denied the Kölner Haien hoped for points in their fight for the playoff qualification.

The top favorite won the only Easter Saturday game in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) with a clear 5: 1 (1: 0, 1: 0, 3: 1).

The dominant championship leader Mannheim extended its lead in the southern group over EHC Red Bull Munich to 17 points at least until Sunday.

David Wolf (15th minute), Mark Katic (33rd), Brendan Shinnimin (47th), Stefan Loibl (49th) and Matthias Plachta (57th) scored for the eagles.

For Cologne, only Michael Zalewski (45th) was successful at 1: 2 in the meantime.

The sharks of coach Uwe Krupp as sixth in the northern group have to fear a lot about the playoff participation.

The first four teams in the two groups will qualify for the quarter-finals, which begin on April 20th.
