During the corona pandemic, people with allergy problems have contacted the health service.

The reason is that their allergy symptoms can be confused with symptoms of covid-19.

Malgorzata Zietara is a doctor and allergist at Blekinge Hospital, where the staff mainly last year had to answer questions about this.

Even this year, when the pollen season is now in its infancy, there have been thoughts about how to differentiate the symptoms.

How to think as an allergy sufferer?

- If you have a known allergy, it is very important to medicate yourself with what you take when it comes.

If you have more problems, it is not wrong to stay at home.

Runny nose in case of allergy

There are differences between the symptoms that pollen allergy sufferers have and the problems that people with covid-19 suffer from.

Pollen allergy is characterized by runny nose from eyes and nose as well as itching and sneezing.

- A person with covid-19 can get a fever, which is not typical of pollen allergy.

Then it is muscle pain that is also typical of flu-like symptoms.

You can also be more tired, but unlike with allergies, it does not come right away, says Malgorzata Zietara.
