China News Service, Beijing, April 2 (Reporter Li Chun) The "Multidisciplinary Expert Consensus on Heart Rate Management of Hypertensive Patients in China (2021 Edition)" was released in Beijing on April 1, aiming to arouse the whole society on the heart rate management of hypertensive patients. Pay attention to reducing the risk of cardiovascular events and death through effective control of cardiovascular disease risk factors in patients with hypertension.

As the consensus leading expert, Professor Sun Ningling from Peking University People's Hospital delivered a speech on behalf of the consensus writing group.

She said that the release of the "Expert Consensus on Heart Rate Management of Hypertensive Patients (2017 Edition)" has provided clear guidance for cardiologists' clinical practice.

Sun Ningling said that because the adverse effects of increased heart rate involve a variety of endocrine, renal and neurological diseases closely related to hypertension, heart rate management requires the participation of multidisciplinary clinicians.

This revision invites multidisciplinary experts from cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, nephrology, geriatrics, pharmacy, etc. to participate in this revision to highlight the characteristics of multidisciplinary management and be closer to clinical practice.

Sun Ningling also expressed the hope that through the promotion of the consensus, the whole society will be concerned about the heart rate management of hypertensive patients, deepen the understanding of clinicians, and reduce the risk of end-point events in patients by effectively controlling the risk factors of cardiovascular disease in hypertensive patients. Reduce the economic burden of patients, improve the quality of life of patients, and maximize clinical efficacy.

The consensus author, Professor Shi Zhongwei from Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, interpreted the key content of the consensus.

According to reports, increased heart rate is a common clinical manifestation of hypertension and one of the important cardiovascular risk factors, accompanied by an increased risk of cardiovascular events and death.

In the past three years, many new studies have been published on heart rate detection technology, heart rate increase mechanism, and the adverse consequences of heart rate increase. my country has also had its own large sample research.

To this end, a consensus update was launched on the basis of the 2017 version.

Why do you need heart rate management?

Professor Liu Wei from Beijing Hospital said in response to a live question from a reporter from Chinanews.com that increased heart rate is a sign of sympathetic nerve overactivation.

Theoretically, there are many harms to the overactivation of sympathetic nerves, including damage to the arterial endothelium, which in turn causes atherosclerosis and related diseases, leading to myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary heart disease, and increased myocardial oxygen consumption in patients with heart failure.

Liu Wei also said that in practice, there is also a lot of evidence that overactivation of sympathetic nerves will not only increase blood pressure, but also cause more brain damage in hypertensive patients, and cause related clinical diseases including cardiovascular diseases.

Therefore, the heart rate needs to be controlled, which is also the main purpose of the launch of the multidisciplinary expert consensus.
