A few hours after the broadcast of an investigation conducted by Europe 1 on the slowness of the deployment of self-testing for the coronavirus, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced that they would finally be available for sale from April 12 in pharmacies.

After the investigation of Europe 1 on the slowness of the deployment of self-screening tests for Covid-19 in France, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran finally decided to authorize them for sale in pharmacies from April 12.

The tenant of the rue de Ségur announced this Friday in an interview with the online media Brut.

"From April 12, pharmacies will be able to sell self-tests to those who wish to buy them", announces the Minister of Health @OlivierVeran on Brut.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Friday April 2

The brake of the Ministry of Health is lifted

Validated in mid-March by the High Authority of Health (HAS), the self-tests were however not available until then because the ministry was reluctant to have them used by the French.

This for several reasons: first, Olivier Véran assured that these self-tests were not "simple" to use.

In reality, you only have to push the swab 2.5 centimeters into the nostril and the result appears 20 minutes later.

According to the HAS, these express tests are at least 80% reliable.

However, the minister's teams question this reliability.

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> Covid-19: is there really a risk of contamination outside?

> Coronavirus: why can a PCR test be positive one month after infection?

> Are private parties really prohibited with the curfew?

> The English variant would cause slightly different symptoms

Towards rapid deployment?

But now that the rue de Ségur has given its approval, the deployment of these self-tests from April 12 could be very rapid.

Several laboratories contacted Thursday by Europe 1 assured that they could produce and deliver millions to France.

"We are able to deliver 10 million self-tests per day. We have the production capacity as well as the logistics capacity via cargo planes through a stock located in Rotterdam", specifies Nicolas Contassot, communications director at Innova Medical Group Europe, whose company sent a concrete offer to the Elysée.
