Hanover (dpa) - The Hanover police have banned a so-called lateral thinkers' meeting planned for Easter Sunday at the residence of Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD).

The organizers are only concerned with creating a threatening backdrop for the head of government, intimidating him in private and thus influencing the state government's corona policy, the police said on Friday evening as a reason.

"Such behavior is extremely endangering democracy and was therefore to be prohibited."

The prohibition order had been served.
