Berlin (dpa / bb) - Due to the high demand of the newly admitted age group from 60 to 70 years for Astrazeneca vaccination appointments, the vaccination hotline can be reached two hours longer in the evening.

The Senate Health Administration announced on Friday evening that it will be on from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from now until April 5.

So far, the vaccination hotline could be called 030 / 9028-2200 until 6 p.m.

A strong rush and a technical problem had made it difficult to book appointments with the Astrazeneca vaccine for the newly approved age group at the start on Thursday.

On Friday morning, too, callers who had failed on Thursday after hours of trying had to put up with repeated 30-minute waiting loops.

After the test of patience, some managed to arrange a first vaccination appointment for Easter - and an appointment for the second vaccination in June.

The Senate Department for Health announced on Wednesday that Astrazeneca would be available to the age group with immediate effect if it had not yet received an invitation.

That is around 300,000 people who do not suffer from chronic diseases.

An email address or a mobile phone number is required for bookings made exclusively by telephone for this group.

It should be possible to book the appointments for the Tegel vaccination center or the Tempelhof vaccination center.

No other vaccine is available for this group other than Astrazeneca.
