The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that the United States has promised to provide support to Kiev in the event of an "escalation of Russian aggression."

As follows from the press service of the department, on April 1, at the initiative of the American side, a conversation between Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran and the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin took place.

During the conversation, Taran told Austin about the "systemic escalation" in the Donbass region, as well as "the unwillingness of the Russian Federation to confirm its adherence to the ceasefire."

"The US Secretary of Defense stressed that in the event of an escalation of Russian aggression, the United States will not leave Ukraine alone and will not allow the implementation of the aggressive aspirations of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine," the press service of the Ukrainian department said.

In turn, the Pentagon also published a message following the talks between the two ministers.

From the materials posted, it follows that Austin "declared unwavering US support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine."

"Secretary Austin reaffirmed the US commitment to building up the potential of Ukrainian forces to better defend against Russian aggression," the Pentagon's press service writes.

As State Duma Deputy Ruslan Balbek noted, commenting on the statements of the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the United States has been declaring since 2014 that it “has not left Ukraine alone with Russia”.

“It's just that the Pentagon and Kiev understand support differently.

In Ukraine, they think that divisions and brigades of the United States will be transferred here, which are mocked by the desire to converge with the Russian army in battle.

In the Pentagon, however, they mean the next sanctions, well, and some of the transfer of weapons.

And, of course, they will send them an instructor to teach them how to use it, ”said the deputy.

He also drew attention to the fact that in recent years Ukraine and a number of European countries have been systematically announcing an attack by Russia, which should take place "almost next Sunday."

“We didn’t wait.

And they will not wait.

Because the entire Russian military doctrine and armed forces are built with an emphasis on defense, not attack, ”the parliamentarian concluded.

As the deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Volodymyr Shapovalov noted, the escalation in the region comes from Ukraine.

“In this context, the statement of the representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense sounds not only hypocritical, but also resembles the standard attempts in such cases, starting an armed conflict, to pretend that the conflict was started by the other side.

They can arrange provocations, this is also a standard US move.

The method of provocation, which is well mastered, is the only help that Americans can give to the Ukrainian side as a lesson, "the expert said in an interview with RT.

He also stressed that the very escalation of tensions in Donbass "is a direct consequence of the US position and Ukraine's desire to enlist the support of the United States."

Earlier, the Ukrainian side reported that the country's intelligence is afraid of Russia's planning to "move troops deep into the territory of Ukraine."

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that the Russian Federation is allegedly completing a set of measures, the purpose of which is to "induce a military response" on the part of Kiev.

Along with this, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak also said that Russia was allegedly building up its troops on the border with Ukraine.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian side is moving troops within its territory at its discretion, this does not pose a threat to anyone.

Thus, he responded to a request to comment on the statement of the Ukrainian military on the build-up of Russian forces along the border with Ukraine.

“The Russian Federation moves its Armed Forces within its territory at its own discretion.

This should not bother anyone, it poses no threat to anyone, ”Peskov said.

The Kremlin added that Russia is taking the necessary measures to ensure the security of its borders.

Peskov also stressed that Russian troops have never participated and are not participating in an armed conflict in Ukraine.

"This is an exclusively internal Ukrainian conflict ... And we, and European countries, and all countries of the world - we would not want the civil war in Ukraine to ignite again as a result of provocations and provocative actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said Peskov.

In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko called the talks about the alleged impending conflict between Russia and Ukraine fiction.

“I am sure that all the talk about some upcoming conflict between Ukraine and Russia is an example of another fake, which is spread primarily by the Ukrainian authorities.

Russia is not interested in any conflict with Ukraine, let alone a military one, ”the diplomat emphasized.
