"The Ministry of Agriculture assesses the current situation on the sugar market as stable and does not expect a shortage of this product," the TASS press service quoted.

The ministry added that the parties to the agreement on the stabilization of sugar prices, which occupy about 100% of the market, fulfill their obligations and ship products in volumes that fully meet the needs of the Russian market.

The Ministry of Agriculture also said that all sugar factories participating in the agreement have declared their readiness to conclude contracts for direct supplies to retail chains, which will allow them to receive subsidies and further reduce costs.

Earlier, the Izvestia newspaper, citing sources, reported that sugar producers at the end of March suspended its sales to retail chains.

According to sources, this began after the announcement of the readiness of the Cabinet of Ministers to allocate subsidies to the industry from April 1 for the sale of products at a fixed price of 36 rubles per 1 kg.

The article says that manufacturers plan to resume trading after receiving compensation from the Cabinet of 5 rubles per 1 kg.

Earlier, the Russian government decided to extend the term of the agreement on stabilizing prices for granulated sugar until June.
