Dalarna is the region with the most IVA patients in relation to the number of inhabitants.

The number of patients is also increasing in Stockholm, but is far from as many as during the first wave a year ago.

Still, the situation is strained, says Fia Börjesson, IVA nurse at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm.

- There is a lot of pressure on our two intensive care units.

We are almost full all the time, she says in SVT's Aktuellt.

Must move patients

Fia Börjesson explains that more staff were loaned to iva during the first wave, when other care was canceled.

With only regular staff on site today, the situation is now at least as tough.

- It is as full with us as it was then, says Fia Börjesson.

- When we are full, we can plan together which patient we could send to a hospital that has an intensive care unit available, hopefully it is within the region.

Are you able to maintain quality and patient safety?

- We always have it in focus and I think we maintain it as best we can with the conditions we have right now.
