This will be the first High Level Service Bus (BRT) in the city.

Bordeaux Métropole announces this Thursday the start “in the coming days” of the BRT site between Saint-Jean station in Bordeaux, and Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc.

Half-bus, half-tram, this is a high-capacity bus, which will run in reserved lanes, over 50% of the route.

The project should have been launched in… December 2017. But the declaration of public utility (DUP) had been canceled first by the administrative court, then by the Council of State, after appeals from associations.

A new public inquiry file, offering rolling stock this time 100% electric, was then launched by Bordeaux Métropole.

“Following the public inquiry which took place from October 1 to November 2, 2020, the Commission recognized the real general interest in the long term and gave a positive response, unanimously by its members , for the declaration of public utility of the project ”, indicates this Thursday Bordeaux Métropole.

42 stations along a 21 km route

The work which will start concerns initially the rerouting of the networks at the level of the future stations.

The infrastructure works will not start until the end of this year.

This 21 km line will serve 42 stations in the municipalities of Bordeaux, Mérignac, Eysines, Le Haillan, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, Taillan-Médoc and Saint-Aubin de Médoc.

Commissioning of the line is scheduled for early 2024.

The amount of the investment is 155 million euros, or just over 7 million per kilometer.
