That night, the suspect appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court.

  According to reports, 38-year-old Elliott was arrested on the 31st. He was charged with two attacks that constitute a hate crime and one attempted attack that constitutes a hate crime.

If convicted, he will face up to 25 years in prison.

  The prosecutor said in the court that the suspect’s behavior was “heinous and unfounded” and therefore requested the judge to sentence him to remand.

On the afternoon of the 31st, Manhattan District Attorney Vance stated at a press conference on the case that he would ask the judge not to release bail.

The appointed public defender did not speak much except confirming that they plan to maintain the bail application.

  The next hearing date for this case is April 5.

  According to previous reports, on March 29, 2021 local time, a 65-year-old Filipino woman was assaulted by an African-American man in Midtown Manhattan, New York, while the security guards of the nearby building stood by and watched the whole process.

The police stated that they did not receive any alarm calls regarding the incident.

  On the same day, the police patrolling nearby accidentally saw the victim who had already been attacked, so they stepped forward to help.

The police said in a statement that the victim had a pelvic fracture and was discharged from hospital after treatment.
