Bremerhaven (dpa / lni) - A leaked hazardous goods container triggered a large-scale operation by the police and fire brigade at the Containerkaje in Bremerhaven.
As the police announced on Thursday, an unusual smell was found on the container stacks along the river quay on Wednesday evening.
Measurements by the fire brigade led to a tank container from which a highly flammable liquid was leaking.
The loading and unloading operation has been discontinued.
The crew of a 305 meter long ship had to disembark for hours.
The broken container was lifted into a larger container and transported to a dangerous goods place in the port.
The water police are investigating the cause of the leak, it said.
