Rudolstadt (dpa / th) - The Thuringian State Museum Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt has been run by a woman since Thursday.

Sabrina Lüderitz is the new director.

The 38-year-old claims to succeed Lutz Unbehaun, who retired after 19 years at the head of the museum.

The art historian has been his deputy since 2018.

She named the digitization of the collections as an important focus of her future work.

In addition, the north wing of the baroque palace will be renovated in the next few years, in which the special exhibitions have been shown and the natural history cabinet is housed.

The Landesmuseum Heidecksburg also includes Schwarzburg Castle, the Paulinzella monastery ruins and the Friedich Froebel Museum in Oberweißbach.

According to the director, the association has around one million collection objects and around 110,000 visitors per year.
