  • Céline Vervaele, 28, has been missing since March 13 in Rennes.

  • The causes of his disappearance still remain a mystery.

  • A judicial investigation for kidnapping and sequestration was opened and entrusted to an examining magistrate.

Céline Vervaele has not given any sign of life for nearly three weeks now.

It was her companion who had reported her disappearance on March 14, worried not to see her return to their apartment in the Cleunay district in Rennes.

Since then, research has multiplied in the area of Prévalaye where the young woman of 28 years used to walk.

Divers also probed the Vilaine at the beginning of the week to try to find it.

In vain for the moment.

The mystery therefore remains intact even if the investigation "allowed to clarify the context of this disappearance and to collect precise factual elements which remain however still incomplete", indicates the public prosecutor of Rennes in a press release.

We know that his couple was struggling and that there was a question of a possible separation.

On March 12, the young woman thus left a letter to her companion in which she evoked a sentimental relationship with another man.

The checks made with the latter "did not reveal, as it stands, any element associating it with this disappearance", underlines Philippe Astruc.

She was reportedly taken hitchhiking on March 16 in Saint-Grégoire

The call for witnesses broadcast on March 16 also made it possible to collect the testimony of a person acknowledging having hitchhiked Céline Vervaele on March 16 in the town of Saint-Grégoire north of Rennes.

"This testimony has so far not been corroborated by other elements accrediting with more certainty a voluntary disappearance", continues the prosecutor.

The causes of the young woman's disappearance "are therefore not known and several hypotheses remain".

This Thursday, a judicial information entrusted to an examining magistrate was thus opened "under the qualification of kidnapping and sequestration in order to continue the investigations and research in a more suitable framework".
