Dresden (dpa / sn) - Alcoholism was the most common topic in Saxon addiction counseling centers in 2020.

This is the conclusion of the addiction report for the Free State, which the Saxon State Office against the Dangers of Addiction (SLS) published on Thursday.

Almost half (46 percent) of the consultations therefore revolved around alcohol problems.

16 percent of the discussions were about the drug crystal.

Further topics were cannabis and painkillers, but also gambling addiction and excessive media consumption.

About 76 percent of all inpatient treatments were due to alcohol-related disorders.

Because of the corona restrictions, the number of cases in the advice centers has decreased by about 5 percent.

It is not yet possible to say what influence the pandemic will have on addictions, according to the SLS.

The effects would only be clearly noticeable in the advice centers in the coming years.
