Six members of the Afghan government forces - including an officer - were killed and others were wounded today, Thursday, in two separate attacks in Herat state, western Afghanistan, while 3 policemen were killed in a military helicopter crash yesterday in the south of the country.

In a statement to reporters, Herat Governor Syed Waheed Katale said that a car bomb exploded near the Shindent District Security Directorate of the state, killing 4 security personnel, and wounding several others (he did not specify).

On the other hand, Nour Ahmed Haydari, Deputy Governor of Herat, told reporters that a car bomb exploded in the Kemer Kulag area, killing two policemen and wounding two others.

Government sources accused the Taliban of responsibility for the attack, which was followed by violent clashes, but the movement has remained silent so far.

Helicopter crash

On the other hand, 3 Afghan police were killed in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday in the Siraj River district in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, according to what the Afghan Ministry of Defense announced.

The head of the Helmand Province in Afghanistan, Atallah Afghan, said that the accident occurred when the "Black Hawk" helicopter took off from the Greshek area of ​​the state, and crashed in the Siraj River region due to a technical malfunction, according to the local Talaou News channel.

The channel quoted unnamed sources as saying that the officer, Muhammad Wali Hamamal, was on his way back to his home in Lashkar Gah, the state capital, to spend his vacation, when he lost his life in the accident.

Two other sources said that 7 security personnel were wounded in the incident.
