Hanover (dpa / lni) - As part of model projects, Lower Saxony's state government wants to enable far-reaching corona easing in selected municipalities after Easter.
65 places have now officially applied for it, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Health said on Thursday.
Around 25 municipalities are to be selected - which will be decided by the state government on Saturday in coordination with the municipal umbrella organizations.
By means of negative corona tests on employees and visitors, shops, theaters and cinemas, galleries and museums, fitness studios and street cafes in the model municipalities should be able to open as “safe zones”.
The country's Corona regulation enables this from April 6th.
However, several applicants have already announced that they would need more preparation time.
The state capital of Hanover is preparing for April 12 if it is accepted.
Should the project become infected with the virus, the Luca app should facilitate digital contact tracking.
The prerequisite for participating in the project is that the corona incidence value of the municipality is below 200.

In Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, a similar model project is now about to end prematurely because the number of infections has increased significantly since it began two weeks ago.
