Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Leon Flach leaves the second division soccer team FC St. Pauli and joins the major league soccer team Philadelphia Union in the USA.

As the club from Hamburg announced on Wednesday, the club and the 20-year-old midfielder have agreed to terminate the contract, which is still valid until June 30, 2022.

Flach moved from the youth of VfB Lübeck to FC St. Pauli in 2016.

In September last year, the German-American celebrated his professional debut in a 4-2 home win over 1. FC Heidenheim.

This was followed by eight more appearances in the Hamburg second division team, in which he scored a goal.

"We would have liked to keep him on our team," said St. Paulis Sports Director Andreas Bornemann: "He made it clear to us that he absolutely wanted to take this step."
