  • More than 250 bags containing food, hygiene products and little notes are offered free of charge to Nantes students.

  • A second distribution is expected to take place next month.

A box of cassoulet, a toothbrush, rice or even a bar of dark chocolate… In the middle of all this merchandise, a postcard whose message, written in a black pen, is even cuter than the little cat on it .

“Here are some very useful presents to bring you a little comfort, we can read there.

With all my affection, Renée.

"

This Wednesday, since 2 p.m., a rather special distribution takes place at the Boréa bakery, Feydeau district in Nantes.

All afternoon, some 250 solidarity bags are offered to students who attend.

Volunteer residents have deposited these packages for several weeks already in various collection points in the city.

“They could put food or hygiene products there,” explains Olivia Delezinier, from the “Solidarité restaurants nantais” collective launched during the first confinement.

But also restaurant tickets, children's drawings or little words, why not!

Socks, lipstick, tomato sauce ...

In the box that Lola leaves with, for example, three pairs of cozy socks have been slipped.

The student also discovers a scented candle, a tube of lipstick, or even aperitif cakes.

“The kind of things I never buy,” says the young woman.

I have a very small budget, so I only spend what is essential.

The same goes for Sabrina and Grégoire, two roommates who also seem delighted.

“We had tomato sauce, pens, several bottles of shampoo… These are little extras, but it's super important for us,” say those who regularly go to the food distribution of the SurpreNantes grocery store.

Especially since we still do not know if we will be able to find a job for this summer.

"

A little further on, Soukayna browses her little card, with which her donor of the day wishes her "courage".

“Beyond the material, the gesture is really fun, it's super cute,” observes this law student.

The young woman, who has heard about the good plan on social networks, confides that she would perhaps not have come to look for one of these solidarity bags a few months ago.

"I would have been ashamed, maybe afraid of the eyes of others," she continues.

But there it became too hard, financially and morally.

We feel left out.

"

The collection, in which many nursing home residents participated (who themselves had benefited from it for Christmas), must continue in April and May.

A new distribution could take place within a month.

“Lots of manufacturers and associations have called us to participate and make donations,” says Olivia Delezinier.

Thanks to some of them, the students this time all were able to leave with a box of Easter chocolates.
