Karlsruhe / Wetzlar (dpa) - After fatal shots at a man in Wetzlar, central Hesse, the verdict against the shooter for murder and attempted murder has become final.

This was announced by the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe (BGH) on Wednesday.

In the review of the judgment of the Limburg Regional Court, no legal error to the detriment of the accused was found and its appeal was thus rejected, it said as a reason.

Last July, the district court found the then 28-year-old defendant guilty of having shot the car of a 39-year-old restaurateur from Rhineland-Palatinate in Wetzlar in September 2019.

The man suffered fatal injuries and his passenger survived unharmed.

According to the judges, the motive for the act was revenge for a fatal family dispute in Turkey a few years earlier.

The confessed shooter was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The 28-year-old had two co-defendants, whose proceedings were separated.

Last September, the Limburg judges sentenced a 38-year-old man to life imprisonment for murder.

He is said to have procured the weapon for the 28-year-old and determined the whereabouts of the later victim.

The third man who is said to have driven to the crime scene was acquitted.

The two had denied the allegations at the beginning of the trial.
