The latest figures showed a big jump in new infections with the Coronavirus in Turkey.

While French President Emmanuel Macron announced the imposition of general isolation in his country, new data were issued regarding the Chinese vaccines, "AstraZeneca", "Vays", and "Sinopharma and Sinovac".

The data of the Turkish Ministry of Health showed that 39,302 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in the past 24 hours, the highest toll in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Turkish government relaxed Corona restrictions this month, which led to an increase in cases again.

Last Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the tightening of restrictions, including a return to complete general isolation on the weekends during the month of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Health said that Turkey recorded 152 new deaths;

This brings the total number of deaths to 31,537.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron decided to expand the scope of restrictions on movement, to include all of France, and said that schools will be closed for 3 weeks, as the country seeks to combat a third wave of cases of Coronavirus that may make hospitals unable to accommodate patients. .

Macron said that he decided to extend the general isolation measures already imposed in the capital, Paris, and large sectors of the north and parts of the southeast, to include the entire country from Saturday and for a period of at least a month.

"If we do not act now, we will lose control of the situation," Macron added in a televised speech.

The epidemic has killed 95,337 people in France, and caused intensive care units in the most affected regions to reach the breaking point.

No risk

Regarding vaccines, the European Medicines Agency announced on Wednesday that experts investigating the possibility of a link between the AstraZeneca vaccine against the Corona virus and cases of blood clotting or stroke did not find any specific risk factors, including the link to age, but they are continuing their analysis.

However, the agency clarified that its safety committee will issue "updated recommendations" regarding the controversial vaccine after its monthly meeting scheduled for next week.

And countries - including Germany - have stopped using the vaccine for the younger age groups after reports of a few cases of blood clotting problems, despite the agency's assurances that the vaccine is safe.

The agency stated - in a statement - that "studies have not, at present, identified any specific risk factors such as age, gender, or medical past, including stroke problems in these very rare cases," which were reported in people who received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The statement added that "a causal link with the vaccine has not been proven, but this is possible, and additional analyzes are underway."

The European Agency issued a statement after a meeting of experts Monday to present their latest assessments of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be considered next week at a safety committee meeting.

The agency previously announced that the benefits of AstraZeneca in protecting people from Covid-19, with the risks of death and hospitalizations, outweigh the potential risks.

 vaccinate children

In the same context, Pfizer and Biontech announced that their vaccine against Corona is 100% effective in young people between the ages of 12 and 15, and they expressed their hope to start vaccinating this group before the start of the next school year.

The two labs said - in a statement - that the third phase trials, which included 2,260 people of this age group, "showed 100% efficacy and strong antibody responses," and they made it clear that they had requested the relevant authorities to license the vaccine for young people.

For their part, WHO experts announced that the vaccines of the Chinese labs Sinopharma and Sinovac have proven to be safe and effective against the virus, but they still need more data.

The vaccine has reached Yemen

In the Arab world, Yemen received its first shipment of anti-virus vaccines, which is 360 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, a week after the recommendation of the National Covid Committee to declare a "state of emergency", following the high number of infections in the country mired in a bloody conflict.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that the vaccines arrived in the southern city of Aden, which is "the first batch of 1.9 million doses that Yemen will initially receive during 2021."

In Gaza, more than a thousand new cases of the virus were recorded during the past 24 hours, in one of the highest tolls witnessed in the sector since the start of the pandemic.

To date, the new Corona virus has infected more than 128 million, of whom 2.9 million have died, according to figures published by Reuters today, Wednesday.

The United States is the country most affected by the virus, with more than half a million deaths.

And Bloomberg News reported that more than half a billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given worldwide.
