A large net was carried out at the beginning of the week against a network of traffickers of Albanian origin, we learned from the Rennes prosecutor's office.

The operation, carried out Monday and Tuesday by the research section of the Rennes gendarmerie with the support of the GIGN branch in Nantes, resulted in the arrest of sixteen men and a woman in Ille-et-Vilaine. and in the Nice region.

Aged 19 to 57, the suspects are accused of "drug trafficking, organized gang importation of drugs, organized gang human trafficking and criminal association".

During the searches, narcotics, cutting products, cash and four handguns with their ammunition were discovered.

A network established on the national territory

The investigation began in September 2018 after information reached the Ille-et-Vilaine gendarmes reporting the suspicious actions of an individual of Albanian nationality, aged 45 and with a criminal record.

The investigations had confirmed the existence of an organized drug trafficking network orchestrated by Albanian nationals established on the national territory, in connection with local networks, in particular in Ille-et-Vilaine and in the Nice region.
