Munich (dpa / lby) - According to the state government, the largest Bavarian cities, especially Munich, are out of the question as model regions for corona easing.

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) said in Munich on Tuesday that the selection will be made from the large cities and towns that have applied and that have between 11,000 and 100,000 inhabitants.

There are inner cities of this size where you can try out certain things.

On the other hand, these are then municipalities without a “great magnetic function” like the big cities.

In the model regions, cautious relaxation of corona protective measures should be made possible - under strict conditions such as a comprehensive test strategy and strict hygiene concepts.

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced a special meeting of the cabinet for Wednesday next week.

Among other things, a decision should be made there on how to proceed with the model regions.
